The news of the retirement of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, continued throughout the day on Thursday. After a tweet by Team India’s captain Virat Kohli, claims were made on Dhoni to take retirement on social media. Many people even claimed that Dhoni will announce his retirement on Thursday evening. However, by the evening it became clear that this was fake news.

Earlier, during the press conference after announcement of India’s 15-member Test squad against South Africa, chief selector MSK Prasad too quashed such reports by saying: “No update on MS Dhoni’s retirement, the news is incorrect.”
