Railway Minister (Suresh Prabhu) on Saturday laid the foundation stone in Badrinath for the final location survey of having aim Rs 43,000-crore project to link the four important Hindu shrines in the hills of Uttarakhand.The Char Dham rail link is an enormous railway project in Uttarakhand. It’s aim to promote pilgrimage as well as tourism. It is a major project. An estimated Rs 43,292 crore is likely to be spent on this project. This is the second major project by BJP government to the state after the Rs 12,000 crore all-weather Char Dham roads project. This project will provide Rail Connectivity to the Char Dhams of Gangotri,Yamunotri,Kedarnath and Badrinath via Dehradun and Karanprayag. According to Suresh Prabhu (rail minister), rail connectivity to Chardham will facilitate devotees’ travel to the famous Himalayan shrines–Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath–even in adverse climatic conditions.
