The funeral will be done on the Marina Beach, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi. The Madras High Court gave this ruling after a cross examination by the Tamil Nadu Government and advocate of Dravid Munnetra Kadgam (DMK) lawyer. For the first time, Marina Beach will be the site of a former Chief Minister. Earlier on Tuesday night, the Protocol was forbidden to build the Marina Beach Tombstone on Tuesday night. All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government had said that he was ready to allot two acres near Gandhi Mandapam on Sardar Patel Road, where the Raj Bhavan is located, citing pending cases of burial of dead bodies in Marina Beach. The Tamil Nadu government filed a counter-affidavit in the high court on Wednesday morning, in which the state government said that DMK chief Karunanidhi did not give place to Marina Beach for former CM Janaki Ramchandran, citing protocol.
