Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the Rinchen Bridge between Durbuk and Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) in Ladakh on Monday. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat will also be present during this period. The bridge, which is of diplomatic importance to India, is located 40 km east of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on the China border.
This bridge is built at an altitude of 14,650 feet on the Shyok River. According to a senior army officer, Daulat Beg Oldi is the world’s highest advanced landing ground (airbase).
Before leaving for Ladakh, Rajnath said in a tweet, “I am leaving for Ladakh from New Delhi. There will be a visit to the forward area of Ladakh with Army Chief General Rawat. I will also participate in the inauguration ceremony of a bridge that is strategically important to India over the Shyok River. ”
