In connection with the gang-rape and murder of a 8-year-old girl in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, Pathankot Court convicted 6 accused, including Gram Pradhan Sanjhi Ram, While acquitted one accused. The court is hearing Monday against 7 accused. The convicts can be sentenced at 2 pm. The Crime Branch filed a chart sheet against all 8 accused in April last year. One of these accused is a minor. Security has increased in Kathua in view of the verdict.
According to the charge sheet, Sanjhi Ram was the mastermind of the whole event. After kidnapping, the child was kept in her supervised temple. The court convicted three police officers Deepak Khajuria, Surendra Verma and Arvind Dutta, Head Constable Tilak Raj and Ennman Kumar alias Mannu. While Sanjhi Ram’s son has acquitted Gammal.
