The floor test has been ordered in the Supreme Court on Wednesday (November 27) on the plea of the opposition parties (Shiv Sena, NCP-Congress) amidst political uproar in Maharashtra. The court has asked that a pro-tem speaker be appointed immediately. The swearing in will begin tomorrow morning. After this, the process should be completed through open ballot by 5 pm. Assembly proceedings should also be telecast live.

Justice NV Ramana said in the judgment that at this interim stage all parties should uphold constitutional ethics. Shiv Sena lawyer Kapil Sibal said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should be stopped from taking decisions related to the policy. However, the court did not pass any order on it. The Bench will later decide on the matter related to judicial review of the Governor’s decision.
