Senior Jammu and Kashmir police officer Devendra Singh was suspended on Monday and it was revealed that he had given shelter to three terrorists at his residence near the headquarters of the Army’s 16th Corps in Badami Bagh cantonment area. Those terrorists were arrested along with Singh. Officials gave this information.
About four months ago, Singh was decorated with the President’s Police Medal. He said that a team of police and intelligence officers continued to interrogate Singh. His office at the Srinagar airport has been sealed.
Singh was appointed to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police in the anti-hijack squad. Adding episodes to the incident, officials said that a lawyer named Irfan had taken the banned Hizbul Mujahideen’s self-styled district commander Naeed Baba and Altaf to the officer’s house on Friday. According to the police, Irfan used to work for terrorist groups. He said that Singh was absent from duty on Saturday. A team of policemen arrested him the same day along with the other three at Mir Bazaar on the National Highway.
