Former finance minister P. Chidambaram (74) accused in INX Media scam was also given conditional bail by the Supreme Court on Wednesday in the money laundering case. The court has said that Chidambaram will not influence the witnesses and the evidence in any way. They cannot even give any statement and interview in the media in this matter. Earlier, the Delhi High Court refused to grant him bail on the demand of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
A bench headed by Justice R Bhanumati said that Chidambaram cannot go out of the country without a court order. They have to deposit Rs 2 lakh in the form of bail bond. Chidambaram has been lodged in Tihar Jail for 106 days in corruption and money laundering cases. He was found Bell on August 21, about 2 months after his arrest in a corruption case. But soon after this, the ED arrested him in a money laundering case.
